My Friends wanted me to start my blog so that they can see my schedule of sermons and public speaking engagements, and their locations. Here is my speaking schedule for the rest of the first quarter of this year. The schedule is subject to change, and often sermon dates for other area churches are often added at the last minute. To schedule me for a speaking engagement at your church just e-mail me at LayPastor@TampaAdventist.net or call (813) 933-7505.

This last Sabbath was a very special Sabbath for me as my life here in Florida just gets better and better. I just can’t believe all the wonderful things God has done for me in the last four years here in Tampa. Today the Tampa First SDA Church had a special prayer of dedication recognizing me as a lay pastor as well as Bible Instructor. Pastor Dan had many kind words to say in his prayer, including I have already been doing the work of a pastor and all the church was doing was recognizing that God had already made me a pastor. He prayed for a double portion of the Holy Spirit to be poured out on me so that even greater accomplishments could be realized through my ministry.
A few years before coming to Tampa to be a Bible Instructor I had sent my resume out to several conferences with no response. When I was hired here in Tampa I saw it as my chance to prove to the world that I was called to be a Bible Instructor. While it is extremely rewarding to see my work appreciated I still recall something the Holy Spirit revealed to me a few years ago soon after I came to Tampa. An older man who attended our church though he was not a member got liver cancer. He was facing a very risky surgery that the doctors did not even know if he would survive for various reasons. I had an anointing service for him the night before he went into the hospital. The next night I went to see him in the hospital. He was sitting there all alone with no family while facing life or death surgery in the morning. He was scared. I prayed with him and visited him for a while. As I finally left his room he was at peace and sure that God was with him no matter what. I walked out of the hospital knowing I had made a real difference in this man’s life that night. As I exited the hospital doors I felt the Holy Spirit tap me on the shoulder and say, “I did not call you down here to Tampa to prove anything to anybody. I just called you down here to help people.”
I have met other people like myself, who are too conscious of their critics instead of realizing it’s not about the critics. It’s about doing what God has called you to do. After all I have always told myself that I am not as bad as my critics think I am, nor am I as good as my supporters think I am. I am just me. And the last few years here in Tampa I love being me! I love my church family! I love where I live and all of my friends. And by the way, the people in Tampa are so kind, patient, loving and accepting of me I have forgotten what a critic looks like!
By the way, the man with the liver cancer survived the surgery and lived over two more years. Something the doctors did not expect the night of the surgery.

HI! This is William Earnhardt and this is my first ever blog. My friend Cindy has been encouraging me for a while to post a blog along with my website so here it is! The year is off to a great start, although to be honest with you it does not feel like a new year yet, just a continuation of the year before, which I guess is what it is any way. I am the lay pastor at the Tampa First SDA Church and we are a very evangelistic church. Last year we had 43 baptisms and so far this year we have had 4 with two more scheduled for February. One man being baptized this coming February has even taken a demotion at work so he can have Sabbaths off and come to church! That is a great sacrifice and it has been inspiring watching this young man make the choices he has been making for Jesus.
This coming Sabbath, the 26th of January there will be a special prayer of dedication for me as I am also now the lay pastor as well as Bible Instructor. I was a lay pastor in Texas for ten years before coming to Tampa to be the Bible Instructor and now they are making me a lay pastor here too. Kewl! I love being a lay pastor but am kind of weird because I am not really a pastor but I am not really a lay person either. So what am I? This may sound strange but year ago I was watching a commercial about Brett Favre the Packers QB. I forget exactly who sponsored the commercial, all I remember was it was showing Brett’s highlights in football and ended with him saying “The record books won’t record me as a quarterback but as a football player.” Somehow that clicked with me, and I thought out of all the labels I have, like lay pastor, Bible Instructor, Elder, I just want to be known and remembered as a Christian. That’s my goal at least. That is why I chose my signature “Christian Servant”, instead of pastor or lay pastor or whatever.
I have just started golfing in the last couple months! I love it and wish I had started when I was a lot younger. I need an exercise program and it is a lot of fun. Since I do it for exercise I like to walk instead of taking a cart. The cart defeats the whole purpose of exercise. The golf courses here in Florida are beautiful! My score is right around 100 give or take a couple or more strokes. My lowest score has been 96 on a par 72 and my highest so far was 137 on a par 72. Just last Sunday I got my first birdie on a regular golf course. It was at the Babe Zaharis golf course on the 12th hole. 404 yards a par 5 I made it in 4! I got a good drive and then used my fairway wood. About 120 yards out I used my 5 iron and it landed close to the green. It was close enough to the green I used my putter and knocked it in on my 4th stroke. Never mind that on the next hole I had 8 strokes on a par 4.
I even preached a sermon on life’s lessons I have learned in golf, and talked about how I also want to use golf as a way to make friends and lead people to Jesus. After my sermon people came up to me telling me they want to go golfing with me so the opportunities are already there. We will even be starting a small golfing group at church in order to reach the unchurched and lead them to Jesus.
I still have my youth small group study as well as a small group I have just started with several leaders from my church. We want to get several small groups going at our church this year.
I will write more later I am sure, but at least this is a start for my new blog! God Bless you and thank you for reading my blog!
Your Christian Servant,
William
